Nearly 25 years ago my former headmaster Philip Lawrence was sadly murdered whilst trying to protect a pupil outside the school gates at St George's. His death shocked the nation. Mr Lawrence was an inspiration not just to me but many others . He inspired me to pursue a career in broadcasting by giving me the opportunity to set up a school radio station in 1994. in a special documentary for BBC Radio 4, I will catch up with some of my old school mates, along with other St George's pupils to share those golden moments on why Mr Lawrence was loved, respected and adored. I will also reflect on what happened on that dreaded day and find out if enough has been done to tackle knife crime in the UK since then.
